Delete your BasilBook account
Applies to the BasilBook web console and the BasilBook mobile app · Last updated: October 7, 2026
You can ask us to delete your BasilBook account and the personal data linked to it at any time. You do not need to keep the app installed to do so.
Delete your account yourself
- In the BasilBook app, open Settings → Delete account. On the web, open Profile → Security → Delete account.
- Check what will happen: workspaces only you belong to are deleted with the account; workspaces you only joined keep their records. If you own a workspace that other people work in, transfer its ownership in Settings → Team first; if it has a paid plan, cancel it in Settings → Billing first.
- Type your email address to confirm. Your account is deleted immediately and you are signed out.
Can’t sign in any more? Email privacy@basilbook.com from the email address you sign in with, with the subject “Delete my BasilBook account”. We confirm the request came from you, delete the account within 30 days and email you when it is done.
What is deleted
- Your profile: name, email address, profile picture and password.
- Your Apple, Google and GitHub sign-in links, and every active session on every device.
- Your notification settings and your membership of every workspace.
- If you ask for it, each workspace you own and everything in it: sales, purchases, inventory, recipes, staff, payroll, invoices, journal entries, bank receipts and integration settings.
What is kept, and for how long
- Workspaces you do not own belong to their owner and stay. Records you entered there remain part of that business’s books, without your account attached.
- Billing records for a paid plan are held by our payment provider, Paddle, for as long as tax law requires them to keep them.
- Server logs that may contain your email or IP address are deleted on rotation within 14 days.
- A workspace’s activity log keeps its entries (for example “sale recorded”) so that business’s books stay auditable, with your name removed.
Delete some of your data and keep your account
- Records you entered (items, vendors, customers, staff, categories, draft documents) can be deleted from their own page in the web console or the app.
- Posted financial records (sales, purchases, journal entries, issued invoices) are reversed rather than deleted, so a business’s books always balance and stay auditable.
- A whole workspace you own, keeping your account: in the web console or the app, open Settings → Organization → Delete workspace and type the workspace’s short name to confirm. Everything in it is deleted at once. A paid plan must be cancelled first, in Settings → Billing.
- Anything else, such as stored integration credentials: email privacy@basilbook.com from your sign-in address saying what to delete. We confirm it is you and delete it within 30 days.
Before you delete
Deletion cannot be undone. If you want to keep your books, export them first from the web console (for example Reports or the Export button on each list).
